Awesome

I first bought this game when it first came out, and played it so much that the disc broke. I recently bought the game again and it's just as good as I remembered it. This is without doubt the best rugby game ever, it far surpasses E.A rugby in almost every aspect (the kicking in EA rugby might be a bit better).
The game does lack in some parts such as animation when a player hand offs his leg don't move and he glides along the surface and the A.I is a bit predictable at times and doesn't seem to deal with hand offs well but aside from that it is superb. A great multiplayer game with a really good rucking, passing, line out and scrummaging system.
The single player mode's longevity is added to by the classic matches where the player is placed in certain historical matches with the clock ticking and has to change history, culminating with having to beat NZ with Japan when you are already 24-3 down with 20 minutes to go.

MemoriesReview date: 2009-04-28 Rating: 10 out of 10I used to play this when it first came out in 97' And now 12 years later i have managed to track it down. Amazing I love this game even more now than i did back then. Yes, graphics are outdated but lets be honest, it is 12 years old. Playabibility is fantastic and commentary...."That will put him ward 4, Thats a maternity ward"
Do yourself a favour and buy this game.what a gameReview date: 2008-12-12 Rating: 10 out of 10This is the best game ever made and would strongly agree with the comment it should be brought back updated with no alterations accept substitutions. i will never get boared of this game!!Jonah Lomu RugbyReview date: 2007-04-20 Rating: 6 out of 10This game was highly recommended to me by friends and many reviews I had read (a lot of which were from this site).
Personally I don't think it quite lives up to the hype. I think Rugby 05 for example is a better game.
What is good I feel are the lineouts, because they require some skill and timing. The rucks are also good because you can force turnovers by hitting the rucks hard and with large numbers in contrast to the "Rugby" games where it seems to be heads or tails whether you win the ball or not. Srums are a bit of a non- event but the fact that you can set up mauls in broken play and use the maul as a genuine attacking platform is very good. In short the forward play is well done and a genuine skill to master unlike the "rugby" games where winning rucks, scrums and lineouts are either easy or out of your control.
The problem I think is the backplay which is crap. All it involved is constantly passing across the field until you can find a fast guy to run. Players never maintain a proper alignment and support players frequently run away as soon as you mee the fullback. Defence is quite good though.
Basically if you're a forward, which I thank god am not, you'll probably like it but if you want to be creative it's not the best.AmazingReview date: 2006-11-15 Rating: 10 out of 10This game is phenomenal: A game doesn't need cutting edge graphics when it can generate the excitement and brilliant gameplay this can.
